After being gone for a while and then coming back yesterday and trying to play I kept asking myself "What the heck is going on? I don't remember the camera doing this before". Came here and saw it is actually a new "feature" and almost cried. Why? Cause motion-sickness > me.
I have a tough time with auto-camera adjustments in video games. Makes me seriously dizzy and I get so sick within a few minutes I have to stop playing.
This seriously needs to be optional. Most of the time the camera does NOT need to move and it does anyways, even if you barely move your character.
/signed + seal-of-approval for making it optional!!

I haven't experienced ANY problems like this and so I went in to investigate.
Now.. the way I play is by the mouse and arrow keys. Left/Right strafes and I use the mouse to look around. The system does NOT auto-center me.
However, using the WASD keys...
With the right mouse button held down, A and D strafe. With the mouse let go, A and D 'turn' with auto-centering.
I'd recommend everyone go look at their controls because I suspect two options are set to A and D.

I read page 1 and 3, posted, then read page 2.
I have no clue what problems people are experiencing and this IS from playing a monk.
My camera has acted the same way it's always acted (though perhaps it might NOT be auto-looking when I target something).

I don't seem to be getting the "auto-panning" as much now when turning left or right with A/D (good thing!), but I have noticed it seems I don't "auto-look" when targeting and attacking (not that big a deal IMO). I've been playing mostly on my dervish.

That's it! I knew something was different. I've been afk from GW for the last couple of weeks but played for a couple of hours last night. Thought I'd lost my camera skills and never realized that they changed the way the camera acts.
Yes,..please change this back or make it an option. I like my camera angle where I leave it.

Incorrect.
I play a monk and I have no problems at all.
Have you guys investigated your control setups?

Someone should make a small movie of the behavior. It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough.

It does get a little annoying with people who get motion sick from the camara snapping back and forth. As for me my control set up involves using A and D to turn left and right not strafe, to strafe i hold down the right click on my mouse then press A or D so I know my control set up isn't the issue. The auto centering camara is something new and was put in the patch.
For the sake of people who get motion sick easily I'm begging Anet put this underoptions. As a person who likes to create videos I'm also begging that it be put under options. And I'll beg for it on anyone elses reasons to. As a previous poster put up Options are good right?

This change to camera hasnt hapen to all....People who playng with mouse even if the changed has affect them they may not have noticed. My gues is that majority of players havent been affected cause if they did we would have heard alot more complains in the gw forums.
IF you see the description of "Free Camera" at the controls it says "camera does not orient to character direction while this key is held".
So if u dont hold the free camera shorcut camera moves to the direction your character looks.
So those who are complaining their camera works as suposed to be by anet and by holding the free camera buton works as the old camera we are used to.
i ll try a freshh instal today to see what hapens.

This is strange, no one in our guild has complained about it as far as I know, and I haven't noticed anything special either. I personally play part by clicking with my mouse or simply holding down the buttons and part (although less frequently) using keys. One reason I don't use keys as much is because they've always rotated the camera a lot for me and I didn't feel in control as much. And yes, there's a free camera key too as psycho mentions above.

Interesting to read the various responses. There is no doubt something changed with the release of nightfall, however, depending on how each individual has their controls setup and how they actually play the game determines whether or not they are getting this annoying problem.
Myself, I am a lefthanded mouse user so I use the mouse to click on skills and to select targets (or in the case of monking I select the party member I want to heal from the party window). I will also hold the right button down and use the mouse to adjust the camera angle when needed. I use my right hand on the arrow keys to control movement. Also I have made no modifications to the default control options that install with GW.
Now prior to the nightfall release, the camera angle never changed from where I put it. After this release what happens is, if I click on a member of my party in the party window and use a skill the camera angle shifts so that I am now looking at that party member. Obviously in the middle of a battle where I am clicking on different party members constantly this gets to be highly annoying.
This needs to be fixed ASAP!!! Or at least give me a clue as to what option I can change that will stop this auto rotating camera. And no, holding down a mouse button is not an option since I use mouse clicks for selecting party members and launching skills.
